Troubleshooting and Tricky Bits
Q: The wrong page is appearing when I navigate to a section.
The first page to appear if you navigate to a section is decided either by the ‘Default Page’ setting in the section settings, or it will be the first page listed as a ‘child’ under the ‘Section Contents’ of that section. If there are no pages under that section then the section will automatically navigate to the first existing page in the first subsection. If there are no subsections or pages underneath the section, then clicking on that section will not navigate anywhere.
Q: I have two pages about the same subject that are slightly different – but it won’t let me use the same page name…
Using the example in the diagram, we might have a Windows XP page in our special offers section that has different price details to the page in our Software section, but we want to name the pages the same so that they appear in the navigation as ‘Windows XP’. But Tank identifies pages by their name tag so won’t let us do this!
There is an easy way around this. We create one page called ‘Windows XP’ and another called ‘Windows XP Special Offer’ and give them slightly different information. Then we go to ‘List all pages’ section and click the Cog Symbol next to the left of the page ‘Windows XP Special Offer’. Under ‘Page Display Name’ we change the text to say ‘Windows XP’. So now Tank can identify pages by their different names, but they both appear as ‘Windows’ XP on the website navigation.
