General Editing FAQs

Q: How do I insert a single line break?

When you press ENTER in the html editor, it will insert a paragraph break (a double line break). To insert a single line break instead, hold down SHIFT whilst pressing ENTER.

Q: How can I view the page view without any of the editing components?

To preview the page as it should look without any of the editing components, uncheck the “Show Controls” at the top of the right hand pane.
Additionally, pressing ‘Num Lock’ on your keyboard temporarily removes these components and also minimises the editing pane, to give you a better view of how the page should look.

Q: Can I edit the actual HTML code?

Yes you can. Click on the W/H symbol to switch between normal editing and editing the actual HTML code. This is only recommended for advanced users.

Q: How do I change the heading of an article?

The name of an article is used as the heading by default, but you can name the article heading differently if necessary. Click on the pencil icon in the blue bar below the article, then change the text in the ‘Article Title’ field at the bottom of the left hand pane.

Q: How do I rename an article?

In the right-hand pane, click on the cog-shaped ‘Article Settings’ icon in the blue bar below the article. Then change the ‘Article name’ and ‘save changes’ to confirm.

Q: How do I insert a document?

To insert a downloadable document (for example a Word file or PDF), click on the  ‘Link to Document’ button.

If you don’t choose any text to highlight the default link will appear as the name of the document. If you would like to use your own text (i.e. ‘Click here to download document’) first insert your linking text, highlight it and click the ‘Link to Document’ button.

Clicking on the ‘Link to Document’ button will open up the Remote File Explorer where you can upload most types of document. Click ‘Insert’ to complete the link.

You can use an image to link to an article download – once you have inserted an image, simply select it before clicking on the ‘Link to Document’ button

Q: How do I insert a link?

External links: Click on the link symbol. A prompt will appear for you to enter a website address.

By default this will use the actual url (i.e. http://www.google.co.uk ) as a link. To use existing text as the link, (i.e. Click here for details) simply highlight the text before clicking on the link button.

Internal Links: Select your text first and click on the down arrow next to the link icon to open a drop-down box – this will contain a list of some of the pages you and can link to. If your page is not in the list, simply type in the name of the page you wish to link to and TANK should be able to find the relevant link.

You can also use images as a link – first insert an image into the article and then select the image before clicking on the link button.

Q: How do I insert bullet points?

Using bullet points is simple. Highlight a list and click on the Bulleted List button.

If there is too much space between bullets try clicking on the button again to refomat the bullet points.

To insert an additional level of bullet points, highlight the listed items and click on the Increase Indent  button.
