Editing Forms

Q: How do I change contact forms on the website?

Forms are used to allow website visitors to send you specific information, such as contact details, referral information and customer feedback.  The editing interface is similar to a normal article:

Clicking on 'Click here to Edit Form contents' will allow you to edit the information that the form requests of the website visitor. It also contains some important settings, so be careful when editing.

Clicking on the pencil symbol will allow you to change:

  • The text that appears with the form
  • The text that appears after the visitor has submitted the form
  • The email address where the information is sent

See below for more specific instructions...

In 'Field name' enter the question or prompt that you want to appear.

'Field Type' will be set to 'Text' by default - this will show a text box will the website visitor can write a single line of text into, such as a name or telephone number

Use 'Multiline Text' if you want to provide room for a longer reply of several lines.

'Html' will provide a much larger space.

'Choice' will show a dropdown box that the visitor can choose from. Make sure you enter the available choices in the 'Allowable values' field below, separated by commas. For example: Newspaper Advert, TV, Internet Search Engine, Word of Mouth.

This is useful if you want to set a standard reply for the user. Text will already appear in the box, but will be fully editable if the user wants to change the default value.

It is also very useful if you want to create an 'opt' out option - for example "please untick the box if you don't want to be added to our marketing list".

Simply enter your default value in the 'Default Value' box and 'Save fields'.

For tickboxes type 'TRUE' in the 'Default Value' box for the box to be ticked by default (it can be unticked by the website visitor).
